CBD - protective effect for the cardiovascular system

First place among the leading causes of death worldwide is cardiovascular disease, which is due to inflammation of the cardiovascular system. A good means of prevention could be the cannabinoid CBD (cannabidiol) known for its anti-inflammatory effect. Animal experiments also suggest that CBD can also help to recover better and faster from the consequences of a heart attack or stroke. Although one can counteract such diseases through a healthy lifestyle, unfortunately, most people only become aware of the dangers when the first symptoms have already appeared. Often, however, it is no longer enough to "just" get rid of bad habits, but further measures will be necessary. All by itself or in combination with conventional medical treatments, cannabis or cannabidiol could be a good way to strengthen and protect the cardiovascular system. The heart and its associated network of blood vessels, known as the cardiovascular system, acts as a body-wide transport system for our blood. If this system has an error or corruption, it can have serious consequences. On the one hand, this can trigger a heart attack, which leads to the death of one area of ​​the heart muscle (myocardium), on the other hand, a stroke can be the result, which means that the brain cells can no longer be adequately supplied. Often, such a disease can be attributed to inflammation in the organism. And this is the starting point for treatment with CBD, whose anti-inflammatory properties have been proven in various scientific studies. In one of these studies, created by an international team of researchers from Israel, Taiwan, Hungary, the USA and Switzerland, animal experiments have shown that cannabidiol can help to heal myocarditis. CD3 and CD4 lymphocyte counts decreased significantly in rats treated with CBD on a sustained basis. This could counteract an expansion of heart disease, giving the damaged tissue after a heart attack the opportunity to recover faster and more sustainably. In another study, in which rabbits were treated with CBD after a heart attack, a positive influence on the healing process could be confirmed, unlike in the placebo group. But also to prevent such a cardiovascular disease, the use of CBD may be useful to eliminate potential risk factors. In addition to the well-known sedative and stress-reducing effect, positive effects on blood pressure, metabolism and obesity could also be observed in further studies. Furthermore, American scientists have recently completed an evaluation of 24 studies conducted between 1975 and 2017 on the "link between cannabis and cardiovascular disease" and concluded that there was no clear evidence of a link between cannabis use and the triggering of heart (muscle) infarctions or strokes. In addition to the ones mentioned here, there are a lot of other studies that confirm the positive medical benefit of cannabidiol on cardiovascular disease. In addition to cannabidiol, cannabis also contains a variety of other cannabinoids. The best-known and most researched of these is probably tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). THC is often warned that it is harmful to the heart and the rest of the cardiovascular system. As so often, however, it depends on the dosage. THC, just like CBD, can activate the CB2 receptors, which are located above all in the immune cells of our body. Therefore, it also has the ability to reduce inflammation and the level of free radicals that may otherwise increase the risk of strokes or heart attacks. THC, however, also docks to the CB1 receptors in the body. These are found, inter alia, throughout the cardiovascular system, where they are everywhere from the blood vessels to the heart muscle to the nerves in the brain responsible for heart rate control. On the one hand, activation of these receptors may be positive, e.g. On the other hand, however, with high doses of THC, the interaction between the cannabinoid and the CB1 receptors may superimpose the effect of the CB2 receptors and produce the exact opposite effect. In addition, activation of the CB1 receptors may contribute to the formation of deposits of substances such as cholesterol and fat in the blood vessels. Should one therefore be faced with the decision to choose a variety that is as supportive as possible to the protection and function of the cardiovascular system, then it might be worth taking a look at the low THC / high CBD category. Source: KRONBERGER, Ferdinand. In the arms or legs show slight circulatory problems, in which the foot or leg begin to tingle, also cramps of the muscles are possible. The death of parts of the body, for example the well-known smoker's leg, can also be the result of a circulatory disorder. In even worse cases, ischemia threatens the heart or brain, and can lead to strokes and heart attacks, and thus become life threatening. Canes for ischemia?The fact that smoking is harmful, narrows the blood vessels and takes away their flexibility, many potheads regret, after all, it remains to this day, the most popular form of cannabis. On the other hand, the example of glaucoma, which is related to the intraocular pressure and blood flow of the eye, has long been proven that cannabis can improve hemodynamics, ie blood flow. Cannabidiol (CBD) has several effects on blood circulation. Both the soothing, relaxing effect that lowers blood pressure and the vasodilation effect may be important here. In the genesis of ischemic strokes, remarkable results have already been achieved through the use of CBD. In admittedly unsightly tests on rats, CBD has been able to minimize brain damage by 17 percent. CBD inhibits arteriosclerosisArterial calcification and deposits in the blood vessels are one of the main causes of ischemic diseases. Here cannabidiol is medically particularly interesting. Research from Switzerland now assumes that CBD can slow down the progression of arteriosclerosis caused by high blood sugar levels. This prevents ischemic diseases or influences existing ones positively. Since smoking cannabis (especially mixed with tobacco), even if it is a high CBD variety, is rather counterproductive, CBD oils and extracts, which are available as a dietary supplement, are suitable. What to look forOf course, if you suffer from a serious circulatory disorder, going to the doctor is not only compulsory but also the only sensible thing to do. The risks are too big here to carry out self-experiments. But of course you can certainly discuss the use of CBD products with the doctor. When choosing the product one should always keep in mind the entourage effect, according to which the effects of cannabinoids and terpenes favor and enhance one another. This also makes sense for ischemic symptoms, as the cannabinoid cannabigerol (CBG), for example, has an effect on blood pressure. It is therefore advisable to always use CBD products with the full spectrum of cannabis, ie full-spectrum CBD oils or full extracts. Manufacturers who work with rich raw materials and deliver quality will surely mark this on their labels.
